Hear Birds Again is an iOS mobile application for bird enthusiasts who have high-frequency hearing loss and want to enjoy wild birds singing.

Hear Birds Again, a nonprofit developed Hear Birds Again, a free iOS app. In real-time, it lowers the sound frequency of bird songs so they’re audible to people with high-frequency hearing loss.

Why it matters

  • Hear Birds Again restores the great pleasure of hearing birds sing. With aging, we gradually lose the ability to hear higher sound frequencies, which prevents hearing many common birds, diminishing our quality of life.
  • For example, brown creepers, nuthatches, warblers, sparrows, finches, waxwings, kinglets, and many others sing in frequencies reaching 8,000 Hz and beyond.
